Okoboji Writers' and Songwriters' Retreat with Julie Gammack

Julie Gammack is a journalist, entrepreneur, and community builder whose career has spanned media, business, and creative development. A former Des Moines Register columnist and talk show host, Julie has long used storytelling as a tool to connect people and spark civic dialogue. She later served as a Vistage Chair, facilitating confidential CEO peer groups and executive coaching sessions for business leaders throughout the Midwest.

In recent years, Julie has turned her focus to nurturing creative communities. She founded the Iowa Writers’ Collaborative on Substack, a fast-growing network of more than 70 writers dedicated to strengthening independent journalism and storytelling across Iowa. She is also the founder and producer of the Okoboji Writers’ & Songwriters’ Retreat—an annual gathering that attracts hundreds of authors, musicians, filmmakers, and thought leaders from around the country for four days of creativity, connection, and inspiration on the shores of Lake Okoboji.
