11:00am Don Short - West End Salvage
Don Short started the legend that Is West End Architectural Salvage 20 years ago, and is the star of the HGTV hit, “Westend Salvage.” He started trying to salvage historical architectural pieces from homes being torn down in and around Des Moines, and has turned his business into a four-story mecca, complete with a coffee bar, into a showcase for antiques and goods salvaged from all over the world.

1:00pm Amy Putney Koenig - Artist
Amy Putney Koenig is a multidisciplinary artist, hospice volunteer and death doula based in Des Moines, Iowa. Through public murals, acrylic paintings, and mixed media, she invites the viewer to tune into the light and magic within themselves. Amy approaches challenging topics and personal traumas with creative curiosity, making space for healing and life-affirming joy. In her 30-year career as a professional artist and art director, Amy developed a distinctive illustrative style inspired by iconography and folk art. Her work is represented in private collections and civic spaces. In 2023, the Iowa Arts Council awarded Amy a project grant for Shapeshifter, her artist memoir, which will be available for purchase.
