The Des Moines Women’s Club is delighted you are applying for this scholarship.

Please complete all sections of the application by January 29, 2027, to be considered for an award. Recipients will be notified the first week in March 2027.

General Information

  • Applicant must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or conservatory pursuing a degree in music or dance, or studying music or dance as a component of a performing arts major.

  • Applicant may apply for only one Des Moines Women’s Club scholarship per year.

  • Only complete applications, including references, will be considered.

  • The scholarship recipient is requested to attend the DMWC Scholarship Award Program on April 21, 2027.

  • The scholarship award will be sent directly to the winning recipient’s selected school upon verification of registration and shall be applied toward university expenses for the 2027-2028 school year.

STEP 1: Application

STEP 2: Applicant must submit an audition video. The audition video must be unedited, show a full-length image of the applicant, and be in front of a neutral background. No changes in lighting can be used in the video. The length of the piece may not exceed 5 minutes. Entries will be judged on interpretation, artistry, musicality, concentration, technique, and performance quality. SUBMIT VIDEO HERE.

STEP 3: A current transcript including your GPA must be sent to the Des Moines Women’s Club office at dmwclub@hoytsherman.org. Please include your name and Rose Lorenz Schwartz College Scholarship in the subject line.

STEP 4: Three professional letters of recommendation with their contact information must be sent to the Des Moines Women’s Club office at dmwclub@hoytsherman.org. Please have them include your name and Rose Lorenz Schwartz College Scholarship in the subject line.
