The Des Moines Women’s Club is delighted you are applying for this scholarship.

Please complete all sections of the application by January 29, 2027, to be considered for an award. Recipients will be notified the first week in March 2027.

General Information

Applicant must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a college, university, or technical/vocational school pursuing a degree in art or a related field.
Applicant may apply for only one Des Moines Women’s Club scholarship per year.
Only complete applications, including references, will be considered.
The scholarship recipient is requested to attend the DMWC Scholarship Award Program on April 21, 2027.
The scholarship award will be sent directly to the winning recipient’s selected school upon verification of registration and shall be applied toward university expenses for the 2027-2028 school year.

STEP 1: Application

STEP 2: A digital portfolio in a .pdf format of not fewer than six (6) and not more than twelve (12) examples of your work, including title, medium, and a brief explanation of each piece, to the Des Moines Women’s Club here.

STEP 3: A current transcript including your GPA must be sent to the Des Moines Women’s Club office at dmwclub@hoytsherman.org. Please include your name and Smith Visual Art Scholarship in the subject line.

STEP 4: Three professional letters of recommendation, with their contact information, must be sent to the Des Moines Women’s Club office at dmwclub@hoytsherman.org. Please have them include your name and Smith Visual Art Scholarship in the subject line.
