Inger Anderson Opening Day featuring Jason Danielson & Friends

We are really excited to kick off our club year and are naming it the Inger Anderson Opening Day; a public concert featuring Jason Danielson & Friends in the Hoyt Sherman Place Theater at 1:00pm, with a reception to follow. Bring a friend or two!

About Jason Danielson

A former student of Susie Miget and Bob Washut, Jason Danielson is a Des Moines-based jazz pianist who is in demand as a performer, arranger, musical director, and educator. His performance credits include Aretha Franklin, Bernadette Peters, Claudio Roditi, Dick Oatts, the Mingus Dynasty, Ryan Kisor, Terry Bradshaw, Paul McKee, Frank Perowsky, Corey Christianson, Jack Wilkins, Cyrille Aimee, Tierney Sutton, Rose Colella, Elaine Dame, the Jimmy Dorsey Big Band, the Des Moines Big Band, the Des Moines Symphony, Orquesta Alto Maiz, and two solo shows for Iowa Public Television. He has been in the orchestra pit for various national Broadway tours, including “Jersey Boys,” “West Side Story,” and “Wicked.”

Jason has performed pianist and arranger duties for local cabaret singers Max Wellman, Fred Gazzo, Napoleon Douglas, Gina Gedler, and Steve Berry. He has been a performer and clinician for jazz festivals across Iowa and a long-time faculty member of the Simpson College Jazz Camp. His recordings include “All the Way,” “The Good Life, and “Christmas Dreams” with Fred Gazzo, which he also arranged and directed; “Let’s Play One” and “Landmark” with the Des Moines Big Band; “Skywalk” with Scott Davis; “Abraham” with Madison Ray and the Finesse; and three albums with UNI’s Jazz Band One. In 2021 he was inducted into the Des Moines Community Jazz Center Hall of Fame, and in 2023 he arranged and performed a concert series at Noce showcasing a chronology of his favorite musician, Herbie Hancock. His current projects include arranging, performing, and conducting “Show Business: A Noce Cabaret,” produced and performed by Max Wellman and Napoleon Douglas, as well as an upcoming debut album featuring original music and reinterpreted classical pieces.
